Chocolate Sun Review
If you’re familiar with Chocolate Sun, you may notice they have a new look. I love the clean, modern aesthetic. Even better is how well all the products perform and, perhaps my favorite part, how good they all smell!
Body Scrub
I love a nice body scrub and this one hits all the marks! They worked hard to formulate it to detoxify and moisturize your skin while it exfoliates. It also leaves your skin pH balanced. A blend of organic aloe vera gel, extra virgin olive oil, cocoa powder, and botanicals combined with Dead Sea salt and Turbinado sugar work wonderfully to leave you smooth and moisturized! This is great on a weekly basis and works well to prep skin before using the sunless tanner.
The best part is that it comes in 6 yummy scents: Apple + Cherry, Cocoa + Flower, Coffee + Cream, Lemon + Lavender, Pear + Pineapple, and Sweet + Orange. My Favorite scent is a toss-up between Cocoa + Flower and Coffee + Cream.
Body Moisturizer
First, you know I’ve tested a lot of body moisturizers and I’ve learned the hard way to keep my expectations low. But this one blew all of that out of the water! It’s a thick, creamy moisturizer without any greasiness and it keeps me moisturized all day. Even now in the dead of winter! It may be one of the best natural lotions that I’ve tried.
They use all organic sweet almond oil, shea butter, aloe vera gel, sweet orange oil, and a combination of minerals that offer some sun protection as well. The result is the perfect balance of hydration and moisturization! It has a very subtle orange scent that I really like.
Tanning Cream
The product that Chocolate Sun is the most well known for and for good reason! The magic is in their ECOCERT DHA which is derived from sugar beets. This is what creates the tanning effect. They also included a blend of organically grown and wildcrafted botanicals and herbs. The result is a nourishing lotion that softens skin and gives it a sunny glow. The Tanning Cream is available in 3 different levels (light, medium, and dark) and comes in either Cocoa or Bergamot scents.
I like using Enhance, the light to medium shade. It gives me just a subtle amount of color and evens out my skin. Above you can see where I applied it to one arm only (on the left) for comparison. If lotions aren’t your speed, they also make a Tanning Gel and Tanning Mists.
Lip Treats
Last but certainly not least, they have fun Lip Treats that come in a variety of flavors. They use a blend of organic plant oils and butters for a super moisturizing formula.

I have used Chocolate Sun for years and love it! It’s that time of year where I need to order it again. Do you know anything about the gel? I am very fair but always use the Glow otherwise I still look pale. I don’t use the cream on my face because of the shea butter. I didn’t know if I should try the gel this year or continue with the cream and also get the gel for my face? Any advice? Thank you.
Hi Kerry! I have tried a sample of the gel and it worked very well, however I prefer the lotion as it moisturizes as well. So it’s easy to just swap it with my normal moisturizer when I want to use it.
