Anyone who wears eye makeup is familiar with the struggle to clean it all off with out being rough with your delicate eye area. Or worse, leaving half of it behind so that you wake up looking like one of the Kardashians got caught in the rain. In an effort not to startle my husband and kids in the morning, I really do try hard to get it all off before bed. The catch is, I have sensitive eyes so I can’t use anything remotely irritating. In fact, I’ve been really struggling with dry eyes, so when I found the ever so gentle We Love Eyes eyelid and eyelash makeup remover oil, it was like a light shone down from the heavens, and angels were singing… I knew I had to try it!

We Love Eyes eye makeup remover is not just for people with dry eyes, it’s for everyone. It just happens to be very healthy for your eyelids and lashes and can actually help if you do struggle with dry, irritated eyes. We’ll get into that more in a minute. First, let’s talk about getting that smokey eye makeup off in a flash! I’ve put it up against mascara, liquid eyeliner, cream eye shadows, and even mineral eye shadows that have been hard to remove in the past. A couple of swipes and everything listed above was completely knocked out. Use the dropper to put a few drops on a cotton round and gently swipe across your eyelids. Then spend a few seconds gently scrubbing your upper and lower eyelashes and you’re done! Wash your face as normal and you’re done.

It’s been an easy addition to my nighttime routine that gets off every trace of eye makeup. You can use it to remove other makeup as well, like lipstick, foundation, and more. My face wash does a good job at knocking the rest of that out, so I primarily just use it on my eye area.

You may be wondering how this can help with dry eyes. I definitely was too, but let me back up a bit. Last summer I had Lasik done. After the initial healing period, I reduced the eye drops I used (as directed), but my eyes were so dry and irritated. That’s not what’s supposed to happen! I kept going back to the doctor and finally by this spring, I was taking several steroid drops, antibiotic drops, and lubricating drops and nothing was working. She looked at me and said, “Well, there is one thing you can try, but it may seem kind of hokey. Tea tree oil has been shown to really help with blepharitis (dry irritated eyes) in studies.” I laughed out loud and told her that I blog about natural products so this was not hokey at all! In fact, I wish we could have started with a natural remedy, rather than all the medicated drops. She really didn’t have a good product to recommend other than some eyelid wipes on Amazon that had tea tree oil, but also a lot of ingredients I didn’t like. Then I remembered this company that had recently followed me on Instagram… @weloveeyesproducts. Aha! I think I found my answer.

So how does it work? Basically, the tea tree oil gets rid of bacteria, mites, and other micro-organisms that live on your eyelashes. For some people, these can cause problems like inflaming the tiny glands that lubricate your eyes. It becomes a vicious cycle, where your eyes just become more inflamed since they’re not being lubricated properly, and on and on it goes until you’re waking up every day with red, irritated eyes or super dry, scratchy eyes. It’s amazing how much that can affect your day to day life. I didn’t think anything would help, but I have to say I’m a total believer after using this for a few weeks! I’m down to using lubricating drops just twice a day (when I go to bed and when I wake up), whereas before I was using them every couple of hours, along with my prescription drops. They also offer some other products like foaming cleansers and eyelid and eyelash cleanser oil for those who don’t wear makeup.
