I’m a fan of fresh faced, natural looking makeup and generally keep to the “no-makeup” makeup look in the summer. But as the temperature drops (finally) I always switch up to a more polished and moodier look. I came across this look on Apartment34.com this past weekend and fell in love with the pinkish nude lip pared with a smokey rimmed eye and dewy glow. So I instantly got to work in my makeup case trying to create my greener version of it.

And my version (keep in mind, I’m no model…)

fall makeup

The original post featured such dewy, glowing skin, so I started with a generous application of Osmia Calibration Oil. It gives a nice finish because it absorbs into the skin swiftly but still gives that dewy look. I layered my beloved skintegrity 5 in 1 tinted moisturizer on top and finished evening out my skin with a bit of concealer. For my cheeks, I used Vapour’s blush in Crush and on my lips I used Bite Beauty’s Creme Lipstick in Lychee.

Ok, let’s be honest. The eyes have it with this look. It’s been a while since I smudged shadow all the way around my eyes instead of eyeliner. In fact, I usually don’t wear anything under my eyes during the daytime- unless you count the melted makeup that I sometimes see accumulating there about 4 o’clock. But I have really loved how this has made my eyes pop the last few days. I started by defining my brows with Lily Lolo’s brow duo (full review of that coming soon). Then I used La Bella Figura’s shadow in Damn Elvia to rim my lashes and smudged it a bit. On top of that, I blended in a bronze toned mineral shadow (it was from a sample and I honestly can’t remember the brand, which I know is super unhelpful for a makeup look breakdown! But any metallic, bronzy shadow would work). I finished off with a swipe of mascara and viola! A simple, yet polished look for the fall.

Do you transition your makeup for cooler weather? What are your thoughts on a bold vs. neutral lip?
