Sooooo…. Have you ever had a moment when someone you love approaches you ever so delicately, trying to gently tell you there’s a problem? My husband, who must have read The Husband Handbook and can never give a straight answer on “does this make me look fat?” or “Do you prefer my hair blond or brunette?” (saying I look great both ways doesn’t count), finally started making comments a couple of weeks ago, asking if I’d changed deodorants, etc. He asked so gently that it took a couple times before I realized what he was saying… That I stink.

I blogged about my favorite natural deodorants here, and Lavanila got top rankings- BUT, I had recently switched to the Vanilla Grapefruit scent which apparently did not mix well with my body chemistry. I honestly never had any problems with the Vanilla scent or the Coconut Vanilla scent, which both have worked well and I will continue to keep them in my arsenal. I do have to reapply midday though, so I figured, why not go for the gold and try to find something that will last all day? I heard rumblings about Schimdt’s deodorant for a while now but was hesitant to try because I don’t really fancy sticking my fingers into a pot of deodorant and smearing it on. I broke down and gave it a shot though, and 2 weeks later, I’m sold!

It really does keep you smelling great ALL day! I used it during a really intense Barre class and smelled fine afterward. It even helps to keep you on the dry side, unless you’re in a very sweaty situation. I’ve been loving the lavender and Sage scent but can’t wait to try some others. The application does take some getting used to. Its the consistency of chilled butter and they provide a small spatula to dig some product out. I then use my finger to apply, as the warmth from your fingers and armpits will soften it and let you spread it more easily.

I could not find them listed on EWG.org, but it is free of any no-no chemicals. Here are the ingredients:

Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), Maranta arundinacea (arrowroot) powder, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Salvia sclarea (clary sage) essential oil, Lavandula (lavender) essential oil, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Humulus lupulus (hop) extract

Just be careful applying right after shaving, it may sting a little. I got a little bit of a rash after a couple days of applying right after shaving, so now I just wait a bit and all is well!

In my previous post about soaps for babies and kids, Safe Suds, I had included a product that had an ingredient I didn’t love. At the time, I had somehow over looked it (pregnancy brain still an excuse 16 months later?) but I have amended to post with a different choice that works well and is safe. You can check that out here. If you purchased the EO soap I blogged about, please don’t throw too many stones my way! It’s still better than about 85% of the kids soaps out there.
