I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my skincare routine lately, especially about specific products I’ve shared about here and there, so I’m breaking it all down for you today! My routine would be considered a gentle, anti-aging routine. While I incorporate products that fight free-radicals, increase collagen and all of that, I tend to favor a more gentle approach where my skin isn’t overloaded with harsh products. I’m in my 30’s and find this to be a good balance for me, for now. Keep in mind sleep, water intake and what you eat all have an impact on your skin’s appearance, as well. Those are easier said than done, I know- Especially sleep and water intake for me!

Though my skin isn’t perfect, I’ve always tried to take good care of it and even as a teen, I dutifully followed all the tips and tricks laid out in Seventeen magazine. I think I missed my calling as a beauty editor at a magazine because I’m truly such a nerd about skincare stuff! I like knowing exactly what different products and ingredients do and how they work. All of the products in my routine have clean ingredients, work well, and have ingredients with proven results.

Loving Lately: Holi (C)

Morning

Leahlani Kalima Cleanser

Agent Nateur Holi (water)

Agent Nateur Holi (c)

Agent Nateur Holi (oil)

Suntegrity 5-in-1 SPF lotion

I start with the Kalima Cleanser which is gentle and has a tiny bit of grit, so it exfoliates a bit too. Next, I mix a couple of pumps of Holi (water) in my hand with a little sprinkle of Holi (c) powder and a couple of drops of Holi (oil). The Holi (water) is nice because it’s thicker than a toner but not quite as viscous as a serum, so it mixes well with the powdered vitamin c. After I apply the mixture to my face and neck, I layer on a tinted SPF. I like Suntegrity’s because it also acts as a primer for makeup and on days I don’t wear makeup, it gives my skin just a little coverage to even it out.

September Beauty Heroes

Night

Leahlani Pamplemousse Oil Cleanser (sometimes)

Odacité Charcoal Mint Cleanser

Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator

Marie Veronique Gentle Retinol Serum

Agent Nateur Holi (oil)

Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream

I don’t oil cleanse every night, but if I have a lot of makeup on or my skin feels very oily, oil cleansing is great for dissolving extra oil and really getting every speck of makeup off. I always follow it with a regular cleanser to remove the oil, though some like to wipe it off with a dry washcloth. Pamplemousse washes off pretty clean.

On nights I don’t oil cleanse, I jump right in with the Charcoal Mint Cleanser and then follow that with a misting of Josh Rosebrook’s Hydrating Accelerator. Next, I apply Marie Veronique’s Gentle Retinol Serum. This stuff is VERY gentle. I use it nightly and haven’t had any peeling or irritation as people report with traditional retinol. It helps to keep skin clear of breakouts and retinol is one of the most proven anti-agers, over decades of studies. After the serum is pretty absorbed in, I apply either Holi (Oil) or Vital Balm Cream. In the winter Vital Balm Cream is a miracle cream. I do use it some year round, especially when my skin is dry, but I can’t go without it in the winter.

Worth The Money

I also flip-flop on using an eye cream. These products are all pretty effective and I don’t necessarily need an extra product for my area, but I do use 100% Pure’s Caffeine Eye Cream morning and night when I feel like I need more moisture there.

Extras

September Beauty Heroes

Maybe my routine already seems like a lot! But I love a good mask session and a few other skin treats. I try to mask 1-2 times a week. There are many masks I love, but here are my favorites:

Leahlani Mermaid Mask

Josh Rosebrook Active Enzyme Exfoliator

Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask

That’s it! Day and night, it’s all here. Do you prefer a more simplified routine or one that packs a little more punch? Let me know in the comments below!
