I was so excited when I found out what the brand was for the March Beauty Heroes box. It happens to be a brand that I’ve never tried, but that I’ve consistently heard good things about, so I was impatiently watching my mailbox for it. Beauty Heroes generally tries to get the box to me (and the other ambassadors) as early as possible, so that I have time to truly test the products and share my honest thoughts. This month was a little different though, as the products were literally hot of the press! Jeannie Jarnot, the founder of Beauty Heroes, said this was the first time that they’ve packed up boxes and had the products be so fresh that they’re still warm from being made. Beauty Heroes shipped out the boxes as soon as they possibly could, so if you’re a subscriber it may come a few days later than normal. I can assure you that it will be well worth the wait, however. This month’s box has far exceeded my expectations.
The star of the show this month is Innersense Organic Beauty. Innersense is known for their salon quality hair care products that are very gentle. They’re also committed to healthy beauty and have complete ingredient transparency. Sounds great so far right? Well somehow I was under the assumption that these gentle shampoos and conditioners were great for curly or coarse hair, but would be too heavy for my own oily roots and over-processed ends. BUT, I can’t tell you how wrong I was. After just a couple of uses, I’ve found my hair is actually less oily at my roots and more hydrated at the ends. What?? I didn’t even know that was possible. I think it’s safe to say that they’ve made an Innersense convert out of me. I think it’s also safe to say that I’ve been using the wrong shampoo and conditioner on my hair for a long time now. I’ve really struggled with finding the right hair care products since switching to natural and I just didn’t think it could be this good.
The Heroes
Innersense has spent two years perfecting their Hydrate Collection and this month’s Beauty Heroes box is the first launch for it. If you’re familiar with Innersense Organic Beauty, then you may also notice a new look to the packaging. The first thing I noticed about the product was how BIG they are. Most Natural brands sell in 8.5 oz sizes, but these are 10 oz. bottles. All good things, but I know you’re wondering how they perform! So the first time I tried the Hydrating Cream Hairbath I noticed how creamy it was and was surprised to find that it actually foamed up when I washed my hair. I got a little nervous though because usually my hair feels more squeaky clean after shampooing and it still felt moisturized (which in my mind meant oily). I followed with the Hydrating Cream Conditioner, which is thick like a rich lotion, and left it in for a couple of minutes. The scent on both is a light, clean scent and you can detect just a little vanilla and sage. After rinsing, I followed up with the Sweet Spirit leave-in conditioner. Gonna be honest- at this point I was sure my hair was just going to be a big greasy mess. I couldn’t have been more wrong, though. When it dried, it was bouncy, smooth and frizz-less. I didn’t even need to use my flat iron! What is this magic?
The Sidekick
The icing on the cake is the Harmonic Healing Oil. A dab of this added shine and made my hair look and feel even sleeker. The best part about this product is that it has so many uses. You can use it on your scalp, skin, or even your beard (for the guys). It also is a great final touch to your hair after washing and drying. A healing blend of oils that are rich in antioxidants and nutrients are what gives this sidekick it’s super powers.
