November is always a busy month, but before it’s over I wanted to share the Glowing Beets November box! I feel like there’s always a good mix of products in their boxes and that held true this month, as well. It had a well rounded selection of products that included haircare, body care, and skincare. All were brands that were new to me, and that’s always fun to be able to discover new lines. Even if something doesn’t end up being a hit for me, I still like having the chance to try the brand and see what it’s all about. Isn’t that part of the fun with curated boxes? So let’s talk about what’s inside the November box.

Natural Hair Mask

St. Tropica Hair Mask

If you’ve been a reader for a while, then you know how much I love oiling my hair. I usually use coconut oil or jojoba oil once a week, but it’s nice to switch it up and try a ready made product. The St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask goes beyond basic hair oiling, since you heat it up and it really soaks into your hair. It’s made from coconut oil, coconut butter, biotin, green tea and more, and all of the ingredients are organic. You just pop the packet in the microwave for about 20 seconds and then apply to dry hair (making sure it’s not too hot first). My hair just sucked this up. I get balayage highlights done, so my hair is drier towards the bottom. It says you can leave it on for 20 minutes or up to overnight. If you have short or oily hair, you may want to stick to the shorter side. For me personally, it was hard to wash out initially, though my hair did absolutely need the moisture this delivers. I think if you use natural shampoo it may be more of an issue. The industrial foaming agents in non-natural shampoos could probably knock this out quicker, lol. I’ve only tried a handful of hair masks since going natural and I think this is a great one for those needing a little moisture boost.

Wabi-Sabi

Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Amida Illuminating Floral Essence

This product is deigned to tone, balance and brighten your skin, so I was expecting something like a toner, but it actually has more of a serum-type consistency. You can spray it onto a cotton round and then smooth over your face and neck. It’s very light weight and absorbs right into my skin. I really love the elegant packaging and it smells gorgeous. The ingredients are mostly organic and many of them are well known for their skin benefits- like white willow bark extract and green tea leaf extract. This is the first I’ve tried from this line, but I really like it. I think this would work great for someone looking for a lightweight serum to layer under their moisturizer.

Moody Sisters

Moody Sisters Whipped Cocoa Bean Lotion

I have to be 100% honest here and say I really disliked the packaging on this lotion. The label was poor quality and was kind of scratched and smeared, and I really didn’t like the design in general. On the bright side, this does have quite a cocoa bean scent and it really reminds me of a lotion from Origins I received for Christmas ages ago (back before I knew Origins wasn’t that great). I really loved the festive scent of that lotion and this definitely brings that to mind, except minus the bad stuff. Because lotions always have to have some extra ingredients to make a good final product (think preservatives, thickeners, etc), I always give their ingredient lists an extra comb through. I have to say that I love how responsive the owner of Glowing Beets is and appreciate her efforts to gather information when I ask the really annoying, nitty gritty ingredient questions. Lisa of Thisorganicgirl.com had some similar questions as I did and she actually made a really fun post about her process for looking at product ingredients. She used this month’s box as an example, so if you’re ever curious about the behind the scenes research that goes on, be sure to check out that post.

November Glowing Beets

Glowing Beets is definitely one of my top subscription boxes, because of the reasonable price and because they include mostly full sized items. I think the true test for me is how excited I am to see what’s in the box each month. Some boxes I grew bored with quickly (especially sample boxes). Glowing Beets is one of the ones I look forward to the most. You can subscribe to their box here. xo
